Bags of Style

a pile of jeans

There is life after denim. Here’s whole new existence for that old pair of jeans. It’s quick, easy and all you need, apart from the jeans is a pair of scissors, needle and thread.

Jeans
  • Lay the jeans flat and cut them off at crotch level. Save the legs for later.
  • Next, turn the jeans inside out and stitch across the bottom to close the leg openings. Leave about 1/2 inch of fabric or an even edge.
  • Now turn them back the right way and check that you have an even edge.
  • Cut the inside seams from the two legs and use them to create handles which you can attach to your new bag.
  • Now express yourself. Customise your bag by stitching on some detailing, adding embroidery or even painting or drawing on the fabric.

"Another good bag idea is to make them out of old felted jumpers. Just wash an old woolie on a hot wash and it goes like felt. Perfect sewing material! "
